A United Airlines flight destined for Hawaii was forced to make an emergency landing Sunday after the plane's bathroom reached capacity.

According to KDVR.com, United Flight 1219 was en route from Denver to Hawaii Sunday afternoon when crew members discovered the lavatories had reached capacity before the plane could reach its destination in Lihue.

As a result, the captain decided to turn the plane around and made an emergency landing at San Francisco International Airport. Two of the passengers onboard the flight, Rich and Kristen Anderson, told KDVR the plane was about three hours from their destination when the pilot informed everyone that they would be turning around due to improperly serviced toilets.

After landing in San Francisco, the passengers were transported to a new plane and eventually flown to their Hawaiian destination eight hours after their originally scheduled arrival time.

As an apology to those impacted by the emergency landing, United officials reportedly offered each passenger 10,000 bonus miles or a $200 voucher towards a future flight. The Andersons weren't satisfied by the carrier's offer.

"Bottom line is they ruined a lot of people's vacations yesterday," Rich Anderson told KDVR. "They gave us a really crummy start."
