Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Administrator David Cummins has announced the new Horizon 25 Strategy ahead of the agency's 25th anniversary in November.
Cummins has defined three primary goals, with officials prioritizing modernizing TSA's checkpoints, elevating the traveler experience and hardening multi-modal transportation security, according to Monday's announcement.
The new TSA boss plans to bring together field and headquarters personnel in September to refine the new strategy.
Initiatives under the Horizon 25 Strategy will include enhancing TSA PreCheck, streamlining the acquisition of new technology and growing the agency's capabilities to counter the threat of unmanned aircraft systems.
It also aims to accelerate public-private partnerships to speed up modernization. TSA said an evolved Screening Partnership Program will replace TSA Gold+ to bolster safety and efficiency.
"President Trump and Secretary Mullin have entrusted me with the task of modernizing TSA. In its first 25 years, this agency has performed its critical Homeland Security mission with dedication and excellence," Cummins said in a statement.
"As we look forward to the next 25 years, we must constantly work to stay ahead of evolving threats and deliver a Golden Age of Travel. Through the Horizon 25 Strategy, we will build a TSA that is agile, resilient and ready for tomorrow's challenges," he added.
"TSA does not have to choose between a secure checkpoint, an efficient checkpoint, and an elevated passenger experience. Through Horizon 25, TSA can, and will, deliver all three at once," promised Cummins.
