Turkish Airlines, the national flag carrier of Türkiye, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) to enhance sustainable tourism initiatives and civil aviation globally.

According to the airline, it flies to more countries than any other airline in the world. The partnership between UN Tourism and Turkish Airlines will focus on promoting sustainable tourism, aviation development and expanding air connectivity to emerging destinations. They’ll also work together to create case studies on related topics, such as sustainable aviation fuels.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee, Prof. Ahmet Bolat and Ion Vilcu, Director of Affiliate Members of UN Tourism, and was presided over by Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the Kingdom of Spain, Mrs. Nüket Küçükel Ezberci, as seen in the photo above.

“We are excited to set out on a journey to forge a strategic partnership with UN Tourism in order to achieve our shared objectives of promoting sustainable tourism and enhancing global connectivity,” said Prof. Ahmet Bolat. “This potential partnership underscores our commitment to sustainable tourism and highlights our role as a global connector, bringing people and cultures together across the world.”

UN Tourism, formerly UNWTO, rebranded in January to promote the organization as an altruistic organization dedicated to connecting humans around the globe and to simplify the brand as a whole.

“With the signing of the Memorandum, we seal a natural partnership to further our commitment to sustainable and responsible tourism,” said Ion Vilcu. “Turkish Airlines is a global pioneer in the promotion of tourism and cultural exchange. This is undoubtedly a historic day that will allow us to promote civic engagement and cultural diversity, as well as highlighting local heritage.”
