Travelers heading to Hawaii via Houston this month with United Airlines will be treated to a complimentary sandwich as part of a test program.
According to FoxNews.com, United is testing a food program that would give economy passengers traveling between George Bush Intercontinental Airport and Honolulu International Airport a free sandwich.
A spokesperson for United said the sandwich concept is part of a plan to improve the customer experience, and the airline would consider making the service permanent if it gets a positive response from customers and flight attendants
The complimentary sandwich was first reported by The Points Guy, who conveyed the information from a Twitter user who said he received a four-ounce balsamic chicken sandwich with arugula spread and mozzarella.

While the free sandwich didn't blow him away, the fact that United was trying to challenge competitors like American Airlines by offering the complimentary meal was enough to impress him.
In a statement, a United spokesperson told Fox News, "We are continuously looking at ways we can improve the customer experience."
