United Airlines will open its new Terminal B North Concourse at Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) on Thursday.
The concourse spans three levels and 765,000 square feet and features 22 mainline gates, in addition to a 54,000-square-foot United Club, which is the largest club of any airline in North or South America.
Terminal B's new North Concourse is replacing facilities dating back to 1969 and is part of United's broader $2.6 billion Terminal B Transformation Program. Combining with Terminal B's South Concourse, United will have a total of 48 gates at IAH's Terminal B.
In addition to upgraded gates and jet bridge access, the project includes advanced baggage technology and expanded airport access, including additional curbside and roadway capacity, a ground-level check-in area and a traffic bypass between Terminals B and A.
Meanwhile, the mezzanine-level United Club boasts panoramic views of the airfield and seating for up to 800 travelers. Other highlights include a 1,350-square-foot outdoor terrace, two full-service bars, two buffet stations, 11 private phone rooms, high-speed Wi-Fi and power outlets and charging stations throughout.

More than 105,000 square feet have been dedicated to retail and concessions. Offerings range from local favorites like B&B Butchers & Restaurant, Rosie Cannonball, Pizaro's Pizza, Blood Bros. BBQ, Katz Coffee and Blue Bell Creameries to national brands such as Starbucks, Raising Cane's, Jimmy John's, Jersey Mike's, Smashburger, Jamba, Auntie Anne's, Cinnabon and Protein Bar & Kitchen.
Travelers can also look forward to wellness offerings and shops like Be Relax Spa.
The revamped terminal also boasts the largest public art program to date at IAH—with 10 major art installations taking local inspiration—as well as family-friendly amenities like a soft play area, sensory room and 11 sets of restrooms.
"I want our customers to start their vacation the minute they show up at the airport and Terminal B North sets a new standard for facilities across the country," United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby said in a statement.
"Houston is a great example of our focus on the overall customer experience—yes, we're investing in new aircraft, products and technology here, but we're also focused on improving the infrastructure, building new concourses, baggage systems and training and maintenance facilities for our employees," added Kirby.
United is the largest airline in Houston, with more than 14,000 employees and 500-plus daily departures. The carrier has invested more than $3.5 billion in IAH over the past decade.
