An entire Qatar Airways flight felt the wrath of a passenger's betrayed wife after she discovered her husband was cheating on her mid-flight.
According to The Times of India, the woman successfully unlocked her husband's cellphone with his finger while he was sleeping on the Sunday flight from Doha to Bali.
The woman, who was allegedly intoxicated, eventually found evidence that her husband was cheating on her. Sources told the Times that she confronted her husband and got into a fight with him and crew members.
Unable to diffuse the situation, the pilot and flight crew diverted the plane to Chennai, India.
The husband, wife and their young child were deplaned in Chennai and the flight continued on to Bali. The family was eventually put on another flight to Kuala Lumpur to catch a connecting flight to Doha since officials determined there was no security threat.
"On November 5, at about 10 a.m., Qatar Airways flight QR-962 was diverted to Chennai. A lady along with her husband and a child, all Iranian nationals, were offloaded by Qatar Airline as the lady passenger (who was intoxicated) misbehaved with crew members inflight," a Central Industrial Security Force official confirmed to the Times.
The airline wouldn't comment on the incident, citing policy.
"In respect of passenger privacy we do not comment on individual cases," Qatar Airways said in a statement.
Sunday's incident comes just one week after a TUI Airways flight from Cancun to Manchester, England was diverted to eastern Canada because of an inebriated passenger. The British man at the center of that episode spent six days in prison.
Elsewhere, a pair of strangers prompted an FBI investigation after engaging in sex acts aboard a Delta Air Lines flight from Las Vegas to Detroit last month.
