Delta Air Lines Loses Passenger’s Dog

A Florida man says Delta Air Lines inexplicably lost his dog as he flew from Los Angeles to Tampa, but nobody seems to know whether 'Tye' the pit bull terrier is lost on the west coast or the east coast.

Frank Ramano, who says he was homeless when he rescued Ty about a year ago and called the dog "a big anxiety pill who helped me through the rough times," paid $200 for the dog to be crated and flown with him aboard the flight on Oct. 31.

But there is some dispute about how, exactly, the dog disappeared. Delta claims the dog chewed its way out of his crate and got loose after the plane landed in Tampa. But Florida television station WEAR said it spoke to baggage services at Tampa International and was told the dog never arrived on the flight.

"I have no clue how they could just lose a pet like that," Ramano told KTLA. "They sound like they lost a piece of baggage - that's it."

Delta told that it will continue to search for Ty at LAX and its regrets what happened while the dog was in their care.
