Netflix is teaming up with airlines to enhance the in-flight streaming experience.
According to Variety, beginning next year, Netflix will partner with multiple airlines to provide them with its mobile streaming technology to produce better in-flight Wi-Fi.
Netflix said its technology is capable of saving airlines as much as 75 percent in bandwidth costs while at the same time offering a superior product.
An improved connection will encourage more users to stream Netflix in the sky, the company hopes.
According to Engadget, the service's mobile device encoding tech is able to use far less bandwidth compared to a desktop. This means more passengers can get online with a solid connection.
Netflix has been working with several airlines already, including Australian flag carrier Qantas.
The company hasn't singled out which airlines it'll be teaming up with on the latest initiative but the partnerships are expected to kick off in early 2018.
In addition to airlines, Netflix has been working hard of late to expand its offerings in hotel rooms. Last summer, the company expanded its agreement with in-room entertainment platform provider Enseo to bring Netflix to any hotel under a contract in any country where it is available.
