German airline airberlin is ready to zero in on business travelers.

In addition to introducing "airberlin business benefits," the European carrier announced that it's focused on upgrading both comfort and service for business travelers and corporate customers alike.

"We will become the airline of choice for the business traveler," said airberlin chief commercial officer Götz Ahmelmann via eTurboNews.com. "Our aim is to provide all companies with the right product via the desired booking channel. We are improving our services and products for customers and bundling our portfolio under a new brand that will be consistently expanded over the next few years."

Under its new buisness benefits brand, airberlin plans to offer three different promotional programs.

For medium-sized companies, airberlin will offer the already established Business Points program. More than 15,000 companies are already a part of the Business Points program with more expected to join.

Also, airberlin will roll out a brand new corporate product called Business Pro, a program that will allow free rebooking even for FlyClassic fares. Lastly, there's Business Prime, airberlin's improved corporate rate model offering more options, flexibility, and attractive fares.

While working closely with corporate travel agencies, travel management companies and online booking engines, airberlin will be looking to develop new technical solutions in an effort to make it easier for customers to access the airline's latest offerings.

Echoing Ahmelmann's sentiment, airberlin's vice president of Global Corporate Sales Stefan Magiera points out that the airline will maintain its focus on business travel moving forward as it searches for new ways to win over the market:

"Airberlin continues to grow in popularity among business travelers and has also been able to attract new long-haul customers with the help of our new Business Class. The business traveler segment is of major strategic importance for airberlin, and will continue to be expanded."

"We aim to continue to grow our business travel segment through innovation," added Magiera. "We will continue to orient ourselves around the wishes of our customers. Here, attractive prices will be just as important as the processes of our corporate customers."

Airberlin's goals to expand its business travel portfolio comes on the heels of the appointment of new CEO Stefan Pichler, who recently spoke to the media about the airline's overall strategy moving forward.
