WHY IT RATES: Enterprise Rent-A-Car has been supporting the military for six decades and continues to do so.-Codie Richards, TravelPulse Associate Editor

In observance of Veterans Day and to give back to those who serve in the military, Enterprise Rent-A-Car is announcing its renewal of three notable initiatives to support veterans and their families.

Fisher House Foundation

The Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Enterprise-Rent-A-Car brand, is renewing its initial three-year, $3 million commitment to the Fisher House Foundation with a second three-year, $3 million donation.

Like the previous commitment, this latest donation will be distributed to Fisher House-a nonprofit organization that provides no-cost lodging to the families of veterans receiving treatment at military medical centers-as three annual $1 million gifts.

Each year, $750,000 will be earmarked for the Heroes' Legacy Scholarship program, which is open to the dependent, unmarried children, under age 23, of those who have fallen in battle and those who have died or have become disabled through their active military service since September 11, 2001.

The remaining $250,000 will be allocated for building homes on the grounds of major military and Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers. The Foundation's initial $3 million commitment helped fund the construction of Fisher Houses in Portland, Oregon and Houston.

Keys to Progress

Enterprise is teaming up with Progressive Insurance, the National Auto Body Council (NABC), and multiple other military-friendly organizations for the fifth annual Keys to Progress program, which is donating 115 refurbished vehicles to military members and their families. Since its inception in 2013, the program has donated more than 500 vehicles to veterans.

This year's program is taking place November 9, at nearly 70 locations across the country. Just as it has the four previous years, Enterprise Rent-A-Car is providing six months of automobile insurance to the recipient of each donated vehicle.

Progressive is working together with local NABC vehicle repair centers to recycle and donate the refurbished vehicles. The vehicles were fully restored as an extension of the NABC's Recycled Rides program, a collaborative effort by the collision industry to repair and donate vehicles to those in need. Enterprise is a longstanding partner of NABC and supports its Recycled Rides program.

Car Sales Promotion

For the third consecutive year, Enterprise Car Sales, a service of Enterprise Rent-A-Car, is providing active US military members, veterans and dependents with a prepaid maintenance package with their purchase of a used vehicle throughout the month of November.

The maintenance package supports the Enterprise commitment to worry-free ownership by providing financial coverage for recommended maintenance expenses during the first years after purchase.

The offer-valued at $300-is valid in all states except California and Oregon and is redeemable at any Firestone Complete Auto Care, Tires Plus and Hibdon Tires Plus location.

In California and Oregon, Enterprise Car Sales dealerships are offering Kelley Blue Book (KBB) trade-in value plus an additional $750 to active US military members, veterans and dependents. For more information about the prepaid maintenance package, visit enterprisecarsales.com/thankyou.

With more than 130 locations throughout the US, Enterprise Car Sales is one of the largest sellers of certified used vehicles in the country, offering more than 250 makes and models of high-quality, late-model used cars, trucks, vans and SUVs.

Military Legacy

Enterprise's support for the military goes back six decades. The company is named after the USS Enterprise, one of the aircraft carriers Enterprise founder Jack Taylor served on as a US Navy pilot during World War II. It's widely recognized as the most decorated warship in US military history. Enterprise's ongoing commitment to these three initiatives reflects the company's proud military heritage and dedication to helping veterans.

"At Enterprise, we're proud to support our nation's service members and their families," said Carolyn Kindle Betz, Senior Vice President and Executive Director of the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation.

"Giving back when and where we can to strengthen the communities in which we operate is among our founding values, and these three programs are a few of the many ways that we remain actively involved in supporting our nation's military."

In fact, veterans, reservists and Guard members comprise 10-percent of the company's US workforce, and since joining the Veteran Jobs Mission coalition five years ago, the company has hired nearly 10,000 veterans. Enterprise also employs more than 1,100 military spouses.

The company repeatedly has been honored for its ongoing support of the nation's military including recognition as a Military Friendly Employer from the publisher of G.I. Jobs magazine, Military Spouse Friendly Employer from the publisher of G.I. Jobs, "Best for Vets: Employers" by the Military Times publishing organization and Most Valuable Employer for Military by CivilianJobs.com.
