WHY IT RATES: Travel agents and advisors with clients heading to Atlanta for the Super Bowl may be wise to tell them to use Lyft for transportation instead of a rental car due to heavy traffic.—Donald Wood, Breaking News Senior Writer.
Lyft, whose mission is to improve people's lives with the world's best transportation, today announced its comprehensive transportation plan for Atlantans and out-of-towners alike as they navigate the city before and after the game on Feb. 3.
This plan includes a five-times boost for Delta SkyMiles earned on Lyft rides, a substantial offer for rides to and from MARTA stations, easy-to-use e-scooter rental and convenient pick-up and drop-off locations throughout the city.
“This will be a great opportunity for residents of Atlanta and our guests to experience the convenience, comfort and affordability of MARTA. It’s great to see private companies like Lyft working to encourage public transportation,” said Andre Dickens, city councilmember and transportation chair. “This offer can reduce congestion, lower commuting costs and help Atlanta continue to grow not only during this busy time, but year-round.”
To help Atlantans (and football fans from all over) get around the city as conveniently as possible, Lyft has a slate of multimodal recommendations available:
—Opt for rideshare and earn five times the Delta SkyMiles on every ride.
As an extension of Lyft’s partnership with Delta Air Lines, Atlanta’s hometown airline, riders will earn five miles per every dollar spent on rides in Atlanta the weekend of Feb. 1-Feb. 3.
—Take half off rides to any MARTA station.
Lyft knows that rideshare is part of a bigger solution--and transit is an important component, too, especially when it comes to getting around downtown during this busy event week. In that spirit, Lyft is providing riders with a MARTA offer of 50 percent off, up to $10 on 10 rides, during the week of the game. To claim the offer, riders can add the promo code SUPERMARTA to their Lyft apps.
(Note: does not include trips to or from Hartsfield-Jackson Airport.)
—Go for two wheels instead with Lyft Scooters.
In December, Lyft launched e-scooters that can travel up to 15 mph in Atlanta--and the brand is bringing more scooters into the city just in time for game. Users can easily rent a scooter straight from the Lyft app--no need to download anything new or add payment details for existing Lyft users! Lyft scooters are $1 to unlock and $0.15 per minute after that.
—Designated pick-up and drop-off points near many top Atlanta attractions.
Lyft has long-term relationships with many of Atlanta’s most popular spots for visitors, including: Georgia Aquarium, Zoo Atlanta, the Woodruff Arts Center and the Georgia Craft Brewers Guild (that last partnership includes ride discounts for 40+ craft breweries in Georgia). These relationships include pick-up and drop-off points, as well as special offers on some trips. Check each attraction’s transportation page before visiting to see if it’s a Lyft partner.
“The city is working hard to make sure that it’s as simple as possible to get around Atlanta during this time, and we want to support that mission in any way we can,” said Sam Bond, general manager of Lyft southeast. “Whether you’re a lifelong Atlantan or this is your first trip to the ATL, we hope you look to Lyft to help you navigate our city and focus on having a great time during this amazing celebration of football.”
