The Carnival Corporation announced the completion of its multi-million-dollar redesign and upgrade of Cruise Terminal 2 at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale.
The terminal is used exclusively by the Princess Cruises brand and now features a streamlined departure design, interactive experiences, a movie theater and additional pre-boarding areas. The upgrades also include the xIoT (Experiential Internet of Things) network, which is activated by the Ocean Medallion.
Passengers sailing on Medallion Class ships will be treated to expedited boarding, a personalized arrival experience and the ability to interact with the Ocean Portal area's gigantic LED screen with their Ocean Tagalong digital companions.
The Ocean Tagalongs will post the avatars of guests on the LED screen as they interact with the animated ocean settings, providing passengers with an excellent photo opportunity before boarding the ship.
"When our guests arrive at the terminal excited about their cruise, that's a great opportunity for us to begin immersing them in a more personalized and hassle-free vacation experience. We have completely transformed the arrival so that our guests can board at a pace that's more relaxed and convenient for them," Carnival Corporation chief experience and innovation officer John Padgett said in a statement.
"Our focus is on the entire guest experience with a special emphasis on making the arrival experience exceptional. From guests' homes through the cruise terminal and to their stateroom, every guest engagement is intended to maximize their vacation experience."
Port Everglades' Terminal 2 will also feature the new MedallionNet, a connectivity service delivering Wi-Fi that is also available on the ships. The internet service allows passengers to access original mobile games from PlayOcean Everywhere.
Terminal 2's first floor will feature the OceanView Theater, and the second floor offers picturesque views of Fort Lauderdale's Intracoastal Waterway and the Princess Cruises ships docked in port.
