MSC is bringing new options to its passengers onboard the Meraviglia.
A new service provides for expert, local advice on each destination while new exclusive excursions have also been launched.
Cruise passengers onboard MSC's Meraviglia will have access to Port Info, a new destination service designed with input from local authorities and tourism boards, offering guests the most accurate and up-to-date information on each port of call.
Port Info gives guests personal, tailored and expert guidance on what to see, where to eat, where to go and how to get there as well as local insights, must-see attractions, special events and festivals. The service also helps guests create private tours or book taxis, tickets and car services in each destination.
The idea is to bring destinations alive for MSC guests and allow passengers to get to the heart of each destination.
"Discovery is at the center of what we do," said Gianluca Suprani, head of global port development and shore side activities.
"Being able to discover multiple destinations without having to repack a suitcase is the main reason that a cruise vacation is so attractive and we are delighted to be enhancing exploration options for guests once they step ashore," Suprani added.
The crew onboard has been trained by local experts and are able to offer advice to passengers. Whenever possible, ships will also adjust port times to accommodate guests and allow them to make the most of their stay.
Port Info is currently only available on the Meraviglia, but the cruise line plans to roll out the program on its other vessels as well.

Exclusive Shore Excursions
Families will enjoy a new tour of Italy's largest aquarium in Genoa. Guests get the rare opportunity to go behind the scenes and see marine laboratories, plankton farming and jellyfish.
An exclusive tour of Messina includes the destination's best sights. Visitors see the Cristo Re Church, which towers over the harbor, as well as its Bell Tower and the Cathedral.
Guests can experience Naples like a local and discover the region's coffee, pastry and pizza. Stops include a local pizzeria, a sampling of Neapolitan coffee at the Gran Cafe Gambrinu, a bite of Neapolitan cake and more.
There's also an exclusive gastronomic tour in Barcelona that includes a visit to the world's first and only museum dedicated exclusively to Iberian ham-with a tasting, of course.
History and gastronomy come alive in Malta as well. The new tour includes a coach drive to Vittoriosa, one of the Three Historic Cities.
MSC has also launched new family tours that include Pompeii, a barefoot walk in Messina and a visit to a Barcelona amusement park.
New foodie tours include baking handmade pizzas in Naples and wine-tasting and sailing the Maltese coast.
