Royal Caribbean International announced its Oasis of the Seas ship would undergo a $165 million overhaul before debuting the changes in New York City in May 2020.

The 63-day modernization will give Oasis of the Seas a new pool deck, a Splashaway Bay kids aquapark, The Lime & Coconut signature bar, the Music Hall, the Perfect Storm trio of waterslides and the Ultimate Abyss, the tallest slide at sea.

The overhaul will also include the cruise line's first barbecue concept, Portside BBQ, and a dedicated karaoke venue Spotlight Karaoke. The ship will also feature a reimagined Top Deck that will feature new ways to relax, celebrate and plunge into adventure. The added features will join existing attractions, such as twin FlowRider surf simulators, nine-deck-high zip line and twin rock-climbing walls.

"When Oasis of the Seas debuted as the world's largest and most groundbreaking cruise ship a decade ago, the typical cruise vacation as the world knew it was forever changed," Royal Caribbean CEO Michael Bayley said in a statement. "Today, our Oasis Class ships continue to lead the industry and attract vacationers new to cruising."

"Now with the opportunity to disrupt the industry once again, we've gone all-in with our biggest and boldest amplification yet," Bayley continued. "Oasis will turn heads when she arrives to Miami this November and the Northeast in May 2020."

When Oasis of the Seas re-debuts in NYC, it will become the largest ship to sail from the New York area. Oasis will then reposition to Cape Liberty in Bayonne, New Jersey, for the summer, where it will offer seven-night sailings to The Bahamas and CocoCay.

When the ship sets sail from its new home at the state-of-the-art Terminal A in Miami on November 24, it will take passengers on seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries.
