Several Royal Caribbean passengers were arrested after allegedly trying to board a cruise ship with drugs on February 1.
According to PEOPLE, five men were arrested by the Miami-Dade County Sheriff's Office after a drug-sniffing canine at PortMiami’s Terminal A flagged the luggage prior to embarkation.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection were involved for the investigation. According to a local outlet WPLG Local 10, the CBP found meth, ketamine, MDMA and GBL in the various luggage searched, prompting the arrest of the five men for possession of narcotics: Joshua Eddy, 41; Joshua Jenkins, 39; Brad Kloha, 41; Adam Jones, 49; and Hoi Le, 51.
The amount in Le’s luggage did not meet the federal requirements for prosecution, so his case has been turned to state and local prosecution, though the other may be prosecuted on federal narcotics charges.
The five would-be passengers were attempting to embark on Atlantis Event’s Symphony 2026 sailing on the line’s Symphony of the Seas ship. The event calls itself “The World’s Biggest Gay Festival at Sea,” with parties, entertainment and an entire ship chartered for the event, with up to 5,500 attendees.
