Viking Ocean Cruises struck gold and silver at the 2018 Travvy Awards.
The brand received two trophies, a gold honor for Best Cruise Line - Europe and the silver one for Best Cruise Line - Luxury.
"For the last 20 years, we have focused not on designing ships with shiny gimmicks, but rather on designing opportunities where our guests can enrich their lives through exploration," said Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking. "We are still a young company, and as we continue to add new ships to our fleet over the next decade, we look forward to introducing many more guests to the Viking way of travel."
Nevertheless, Viking is still rapidly expanding. By 2019, the brand will have become the biggest small ship ocean cruise line with the Viking Orion and Viking Jupiter joining the fleet in the next couple of years. At least another four are also scheduled to come online through 2023-vastly outnumbering its current peers with a total of 10.
Now, Hagen is talking about ship number 11 and more, contemplating zero-emission hydrogen, or alternatively methanol and LNG, power for the future.
Viking may have begun at a slower pace on the river in Russia, but now that the entire world is its oyster, it shows no signs of slowing down.
