WHY IT RATES: Many know Jackson Hole as a skiing destination, but the fun continues year round!-Michael Schottey, TravelPulse Director of Digital Content
The dates are set for the 34th annual Jackson Hole Fall Arts Festival and for 11 days, from September 5 - 16, 2018, the streets of Jackson, Wyoming, will be filled with exciting events appealing to the eyes, ears, taste buds and the soul. Visitors can take time to reflect on the stunning Teton mountain range just as the beautiful cowgirl does in the festival's recently announced 2018 featured artwork, "Teton Reflections" by Dennis Ziemienski. Festival posters emblazoned with the image are available for purchase and will be signed by Ziemienski on Wednesday, Sept. 12. The original 54-by-42-inch oil-on-linen painting will go up for auction Sept. 15.
With more than 50 family-friendly events, many of which are free, and with summer crowds departed, September is the perfect time to travel to Jackson and soak in the works of talented local and national artists, ranging from oil paintings, watercolors and sculptures to fashion, furniture, and food. Named the best fall festival in Wyoming by Travel + Leisure, this annual arts festival is truly a one-of-a-kind event to put on the calendar.
Returning festival favorites include the Western Design Exhibit + Sale which returns to the Snow King Center on Sept. 6 with its action-packed Opening Preview Party, complete with cocktails, bites and hundreds of juried artists' work to peruse, plus a live runway fashion show. The exhibit and sale continue through Sept. 9, providing the opportunity for guests to shop and talk shop with the talented artists and designers. Returning this year is the popular Designer Show House with five professionally designed rooms to explore in a unique life-size model home on the showroom floor.
Other returning Fall Arts Festival favorites include the Palates & Palettes Gallery Walk, where galleries stay open late and offer guests a look at their collections while serving wine, appetizers and in some cases live music on Friday, Sept. 7. Locals and visitors alike crave the scrumptious Taste of the Tetons event, offering a chance to sample creative cuisine from Jackson Hole's best chefs on Sunday, Sept. 9.
Architecture and design enthusiasts can revel in the excitement of the Showcase of Homes Tour on Friday, Sept. 14, offering a glimpse into Jackson's spectacular mountain homes and the opportunity to discuss technique and craftsmanship with the experts behind their design. And Western cultural history fans can tour the valley's historic ranches where cowboy heritage still thrives.
A festival finale and fan favorite, the always popular QuickDraw event this year taking place on Saturday, Sept. 15, attracts dozens of artists to the world-famous Jackson Town Square, where they're given 90 minutes to paint, sculpt and sketch their masterpieces before the live auction to sell the unique works.
