Mexico’s Ministry of Tourism has rated Cancun and Tulum as two of the most popular destinations in Mexico for international female travelers in 2024.
The Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, shared the data: 59 percent of Tulum’s international tourists were single women. That percentage was 53.7 percent in Cancun, 53.8 in Oaxaca and 53.4 percent in Los Cabos. The four destinations are known for their safety.
Both Cancun and Tulum are located in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo.
Riviera Maya News reported that 10.2 million international female travelers arrived in Mexico by air during the first 11 months of 2024, an increase of 2.4 percent year over year.
“This confirms the growing trend of female tourism in the state, who seek not only relaxation, but authentic and safe experiences,” said Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama. “In this New Era of Tourism, Quintana Roo destinations have a more inclusive, responsible and women-friendly approach, in addition to offering experiences that range from well-being and relaxation to adventure and culture, all in a safe and respectful environment.”
Cancun is an uber-popular resort destination, offering beautiful Caribbean beaches, lively nightlife and plenty of resorts to choose from. Tulum, located nearby, is home to its own wide selection of beachfront resorts and several archaeological parks. International flights to Tulum’s new airport began operating as recently as last March.
