With winter fast approaching, many travelers have likely already begun planning a ski trip.
As they begin eyeing potential destinations, worldwide air charter marketplace JetCharters.com has revealed its top U.S. ski destination for 2015: Telluride, Colorado.
Located six hours southwest of Denver, Telluride isn't as well known as Aspen, but it's every bit as ideal for those seeking a winter getaway.
Once a silver and gold mining camp, the town has has been propelled into the spotlight by a variety of factors, each of which JetCharters.com took into consideration. In making its decision, the company took into account scenery, population, lodging, dining, activities and location.
Telluride boasts countless picturesque views (for proof, just search hashtag #telluride on Instagram), a relatively small population, an array of diverse accommodation options, restaurants and shops as well as numerous activities, none more fitting than skiing.
A local condo owner told JetCharters.com that Telluride has "it all in one package."
"It provides the perfect blend of great skiing, with the picturesque mountain base right at the town, friendly locals as well as nice shops and restaurants," the frequent visitor added in a statement. "There is really nothing else like it."
The town's top attraction, according to traveler reviews and ratings on TripAdvisor, the Telluride-Mountain Village gondola, is free to travelers. What's more, many of the area's most popular attractions are natural, meaning visitors won't have to break the bank to come away with a memorable experience.
There's no shortage of hiking trails near Telluride, but there's also plenty to do indoors as visitors can choose from hotels, mountain lodges, condos or even resorts.
And, oh yeah, the skiing isn't too bad either.
