Cabo Adventures is a tour and activity company in Los Cabos that operates tours from ziplining and camel-riding to water adventures such as whale-watching and snorkeling. I can say, from personal experience, that their operations are high-touch and high-quality.
Arguably, some of their most popular activities involve sea life. Is swimming with dolphins on your bucket list? Well, this might be the place to do it. The company has two dolphin centers - in San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas - and they offer interactive programs at both. There is everything from the basic dolphin swim to programs that allow guests to be a trainer for a day. Families and couples can even book private dolphin swims for something extra memorable.
Other popular water-based activities on offer include Cabo Adventures luxury sailing experience, scuba diving programs, the whale shark encounter, flyboarding and our tour, the snorkel and sea adventure. For landlubbers, there's also an outback and camel safari, a mountain biking adventure, ziplining and an adventure by air.
The snorkeling adventure explores the area in Los Cabos that Jacques Cousteau called the "world's aquarium." Guests go beyond the hotel zone and explore a secluded cove where the waves are calmer and the ocean is teeming with fish. The journey begins in the Cabo San Lucas marina and heads out to the famous Land's End arch and Lovers' Beach for a photo stop. The driver of the boat tries to time everything just right so there aren't any other boats in the shot, making it the ideal photo-op.
Then guests head out for a bouncy ride on an a Zodiac raft toward the cove where they drop anchor and jump in for an underwater adventure. All snorkeling gear is provided, and one of the best items that they have available to swimmers is the sea scooter, which basically does the swimming for the snorkeler and provides plenty of time to view the sea life below.
The visit to the cove can last up to two hours, so if guests get tired of checking out the fish and brightly colored coral reefs, there is the option to do some other activities. Guests can head out in kayaks to check out the rocky coastline or try their hands at stand-up paddleboarding.
The guides are there to help guests with anything that they need and extra equipment and kayaks are available on a Cabo Adventures' supply boat that keeps track of all the extra gear. There is even a photographer on hand to snap underwater photos of you - and the fish - during your tour. They provide guests with the images at the end of the tour.
The way back is a lot smoother, as the Zodiac is riding the waves back into the marina. And, in case you think that the adventure is already over as you pull up to the dock, remember to keep your eyes out for the cheeky sea lions that inhabit the bay.
