Chicago is raking in the accolades these days.
Fresh off announcing it set a new tourism record in 2017, lifestyle publication Time Out revealed the Windy City is the world’s best.
Time Out’s City Life Index ranked Chicago number one for the second time in a row.
Chicago was the overall winner and also ranked high in several breakout categories. The city had high scores for its drinking and dining scenes and came in above average for happiness, culture, affordability, city pride and how people feel about their neighborhood.
Porto, Portugal, made its debut on the annual list in the number-two spot. It earned its ranking for being the most livable and heartwarming city and for being the best city in the world to make friends and find love.
New York came in at number three. It had the world’s best nightlife and ranked second for culture. Its dining, bar and cultural scenes are also ranked quite highly.

Melbourne came in at number four but was by far the winner when it came to happiness. Eighty-nine percent of those surveyed said that they enjoy living in the Australian hotspot where more than two in three people said that making friends is easy.
London rounds out the top five cities. Eighty-six percent of residents say that there is always something to do in the city, and they rank their restaurant and bar scenes highly, love the city’s nightlife and are thrilled with their theater options.
Other notable city rankings include Paris for the most sex, Washington, D.C. as the dating capital of the world, Austin as the number-one city for live music and Mexico City for being the most cultured.
