Labor Day Weekend signals the unofficial end of summer.
But before travelers start making those shoulder season plans, it's worth looking back on some of the most notable travel advisories from the past few months.
Here are the most important travel advisory updates from summer 2025.
Mexico - Level 2
The U.S. State Department updated its travel advisory for Mexico on August 12, encouraging travelers to exercise increased caution due to terrorism, crime and kidnapping.
Officials advise Americans to avoid travel to six states within the North American country and reconsider visiting at least seven states. The vast majority of Mexico's tourist hotspots fall under Levels 1-2, meaning travelers can exercise normal precautions or increased caution.
Israel, the West Bank and Gaza - Levels 3-4
The latest guidance for Israel and the West Bank advises Americans to reconsider travel due to terrorism and civil unrest, while travelers are encouraged to avoid Gaza due to terrorism and armed conflict. The July update came amid widespread flight cancellations and other travel impacts due to the ongoing conflict.

Dominican Republic - Level 2
The beloved Caribbean destination of the Dominican Republic continues to receive a Level 2 travel advisory from the U.S. State Department.
"Violent crime is a concern in the Dominican Republic despite more police presence in areas often visited by tourists," the June 18 update states. "Do not display wealth and be wary of meeting individuals from online in secluded locations."
Canada - Level 1
Canada continues to be one of the safest countries in the world, receiving a Level 1 travel advisory from the U.S. State Department as of June 11.
United Kingdom - Level 2
Like so many popular European countries, the United Kingdom is listed at Level 2 following its most recent June 10 update. Travelers are advised to exercise increased caution due to the threat of terrorism.
Officials warn that terrorist groups continue plotting possible attacks with little or no warning in the following areas throughout the U.K. and Europe:
- Tourist locations
- Transportation hubs (airports)
- Markets and shopping malls
- Local government facilities
- Hotels, clubs, and restaurants
- Places of worship
- Parks
- Major sporting and cultural events or concerts
- Educational institutions
- Other public areas
Thailand - Level 2

U.S. officials advise Americans to exercise increased caution in Thailand this fall due to the risk of unrest. Meanwhile, visitors should avoid areas along the Cambodian and Thai border due to armed conflict, according to the July 25 update.
"Exercise increased caution due to civil unrest associated with ongoing insurgent activities in the Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat provinces. Do not travel to areas within 50km of the Thai-Cambodian border due to ongoing fighting between Thai and Cambodian military forces," the State Department says.
Antarctica - Level 2
The State Department updated its Level 2 travel advisory for the popular expedition cruising destination of Antarctica on July 28. Americans are asked to exercise increased caution "due to environmental hazards posed by extreme and unpredictable weather and limited emergency services."
Qatar - Level 1
The burgeoning Middle Eastern destination of Qatar remains at a Level 1 following a June 3 update from the U.S. State Department, with officials reminding travelers to exercise normal precautions.
