Mexico Tourism Board CEO Lourdes Berho has made the decision to step down from the government post she had held since July 1, 2016 and rejoin her personal marketing communications firm, which specializes in travel and tourism, innovation and sustainability, with expertise in PR, sales, marketing and custom publishing.
Hector Flores Santana has been appointed as the new CEO of the Mexico Tourism Board and is set to take office next May 1st. Flores Santana has a long history and extensive experience in the tourism sector.
He was in charge of the office at the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR); served as Undersecretary of Tourism Development for the same entity; was Secretary of Economic Development of the then Headquarters of the Federal District and was President of the Technical Committee for FONATUR and the Governing Board of the Mexico Tourism Board.
Mexico's Secretary of Tourism, Enrique de la Madrid Cordero, thanked Berho and gave her ample recognition for the extensive work she did as the head of the Mexico Tourism Board, which included coordinating major events such as the Mexican Grand Prix Formula 1, the NFL game at the Estadio Azteca, the 2017 Mexico World Golf Championship, the Longines Global Champions Tour and 2017 Tianguis Turistico in Acapulco.

The secretary entrusted Flores Santana with strengthening the Mexico Tourism Board, continuing current promotional activities and in particular with intensifying the diversification of countries of origin for visitors, as well as complementing the already successful model of sun and sand tourism with other domestic destinations and tourism products.
The objective, said the secretary, is to comply with the instruction of the President Enrique Peña Nieto to make tourism one of the main economic drivers of the country, generating jobs and raising the standard of living for Mexican citizens.
