Piggin' Out on Barbecue at The Pig Out Inn in Natchez, MS

After a long day of sightseeing in the surprisingly amazing Natchez, Mississippi, we were fortunate to pull into The Pig Out Inn for a great barbecue dinner. Here in the South, we have high expectations for our barbecue, and The Pig Out Inn did not disappoint! After all, how can you go wrong with a place that proclaims it's "Swine Dining at its Finest!"?

We were greeted warmly and quickly realized we were in a kind of shrine to the South. One wall, in huge lettering, proclaimed the many reasons to love the South (including fried chicken, barbecue, Scarlett & Rhett, and Elvis, of course). It definitely makes sense that a barbecue restaurant should pay tribute to its Southern roots.

Because everything looked and sounded delicious, we asked tons of questions. It's important to order the right thing, ya know? We were given answers to all questions as well as recommendations. The servers told us not to miss the pie for dessert!

We both decided on plates consisting of barbecue pulled pork sandwiches with two sides. Mark decided on macaroni and cheese with baked beans, and I had the potato salad with baked beans. I'm not sure you can go wrong with any of the sides. Just check out a few of them in the photo below!

The barbecue was very moist without being greasy, and the sauce had just the right amount of tang. The potato salad had an extra creaminess to it that I loved. I have to say we were mostly surprised by the baked beans - which had mustard seeds!

For dessert, we each had to get our own mini homemade pie, of course. Mark went for his favorite, pecan pie, and I had the buttermilk. Both absolutely delicious. I love mini pies because I'm a huge fan of pie crusts. Just the right amount of sweet goodness in the middle of the flaky, rich taste of the crust.

The Pig Out Inn is also a great place for a photo op. Just check out their huge pink pig out front! The quality food and fun atmosphere make this restaurant worth adding to your "must-eat" list.
