After Hurricane Maria devastated much of the Caribbean, the island of Puerto Rico is once again open for business as the busy winter tourism season kicks into gear.

With more than 100 hotels operating, four thousand restaurants serving customers and tourism attractions across the island open, travelers looking to visit Puerto Rico during the holiday season will have ample options.

The Puerto Rico Tourism Company revealed that all airports on the Caribbean island are fully operational, including Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in San Juan. In total, there are approximately 70 flights operating per day across 27 different major commercial airlines.

For travelers looking for a place to stay, more than 75 percent of hotels in Puerto Rico are operational and taking reservations. As existing hotels return to full service, Marriott also announced it will open a second property on the island.

"It's been the continued collaboration with Governor Ricardo Rossello's team and tourism industry partners that has resulted in tremendous progress and we're thrilled to be officially open for tourism," PRTC executive director Jose Izquierdo said in a statement. "Tourism is a vital contributor to the Island's economy, so reaching these milestones not only will help build a stronger, better Puerto Rico, but showcases the resiliency in our people and destination."

The cruise industry is another triumphant aspect.

With the return of Carnival Cruise Line, the island now boasts almost 60 shore excursions, more than 70 transit calls and an estimated 85,000 more homeport passengers expected to embark from San Juan through January 31, 2018.

In terms of tourist attractions open to travelers, there are 107 operating across Puerto Rico, including major sites like Old San Juan, the Castillo San Felipe del Morro, Cueva Ventana and more.
