A bar in St. Petersburg, Florida is bringing an end to the inglorious tradition of having to flag down a bartender in order to get a drink.
Slated to open in October, Pour Taproom will be the largest self-serve bar in the country.
The high-tech offering will have 85 taps linked to electronic bracelets worn by patrons and a smartphone app, all of which allows customers to fill their own pint glasses, according to Lonely Planet.
Its system has customers pay for drinks by the ounce, not the glass, making it easier to sample a few sips of various beverages, in the search for your favorite. With a booming craft beer industry in the United States, the concept is timely. As of last year, there were more than 5,000 breweries in the country. Florida alone is home to more than 250.
Pour plans to feature many local and regional brews.
"The food and beverage renaissance that Florida, and particularly downtown St. Pete, has seen in the last decade is nothing short of amazing," St. Petersburg Pour Taproom co-owner Tanner Moody told Lonely Planet. "St. Pete has become known for being a craft beer hub, and we are looking to add to that reputation by showcasing the best local craft beers in Tampa Bay all in one place."

Developed by Nate Tomforde, the St. Petersburg location will not be the first place he's opened this groundbreaking bar. Though Florida's iteration will be the largest, Pour Taprooms also have locations in Asheville, North Carolina; Charleston, South Carolina and Knoxville, Tennessee.
