Travelers looking to celebrate their love this Valentine's Day may want to head for the West Coast.

WalletHub recently released its rankings of the best U.S. cities to spend February 14, 2025, and West Coast destinations fare remarkably well.

The personal finance website compared 100 of the largest U.S. cities across more than two dozen key metrics, including factors such as florists per capita, forecasted precipitation and the cost of a three-course meal for two to reveal the top spots for romance.

Coming out on top is San Francisco with a total score of 76.08. The Bay Area ranks inside the top six in three of the four categories considered, including budget (fifth), activities (second) and gift accessibility (sixth).

"San Francisco is the best place for celebrating Valentine’s Day, in part due to the fact that it has the highest prevalence of affordable restaurants, florists and second-highest gift shops rated at least 4.5 stars," WalletHub points out. "If you want to take a romantic stroll on Valentine’s Day, you’ll benefit from the fact that San Francisco ranks second among the most walkable cities."

The Bay Area metropolis also boasts the most card shops and chocolatiers per capita.

Trailing San Francisco are Seattle and San Diego. In the Pacific Northwest, the Emerald City ranks inside the top 10 for budget (fourth), activities (10th) and gift accessibility (eighth) but is tied for the worst Valentine's Day weather forecast in 2025. On the other end of the spectrum, 18th-ranked Colorado Springs, Colorado offers the best weather forecast this February 14.

Rounding out the top five best cities to spend Valentine's Day in 2025 are Las Vegas and Denver.

Despite trailing San Francisco by more than 14 points and ranking 20th overall, Miami finished first for both activities and gift accessibility. Meanwhile, 38th-ranked Fremont, California ranks first for Valentine's Day budget.
