Vail Resorts is expanding its empire to the East Coast, according to a new report in the Telegraph. The resort company recently purchased Stowe Mountain Resort in Vermont for $50 million.
Stowe will fit in well with Vail's brand. It has 485 skiable acres on two mountains, Mount Mansfield and Spruce Peak, says the Telegraph. There are five terrain parks at Mansfield as well.
This is just another notch in Vail Resorts' belt.
"Vail Resorts' quest for world domination shows little sign of slowing down," writes Joe Mahon.
Currently, the resort company owns resorts in the West that include Breckenridge, Beaver Creek, Heavenly, Northstar California, Kirkwood, Park City and Canyons. It also took over Whistler/Blackcomb and acquired Perisher in Australia.
But expansion has its perks.

"Skiers and snowboarders who want to explore what North America has to offer can benefit from this expansion with an Epic Pass, a season-long pass giving unlimited access to the company's resorts in the USA and Perisher in Australia, plus five days at Whistler Blackcomb," says Mahon.
