Malaysia's Million Stars Hotel has kicked off the development of astrotourism and astrophotography. The hotel gives visitors the chance to spend the night under the stars and, now, the country is incorporating this idea into their tourism marketing plans, according to New Strait Times.
"With a minimum cost, it is not impossible for this tourism sector to increase tourist arrivals in Sabah," Tourism and Culture Ministry (MOTAC) Sabah Office Director, Ag Ahmad Zaki Abu Bakar told the publication during the recent Perseid Meteor Shower Viewing Party program at the Tip of Borneo in Kudat.
Bakar added that proper planning will aid Sabah in becoming one of the best locations in the world for stargazing.

According to the New Strait Times, the program is a collaboration between MOTAC and the Sabah Stargazers club and is part of the efforts to promote 'voluntourism', which was introduced by the ministry last June.
