WHY IT RATES: The acquisition of Key Meetings & Events is the first since InteleTravel purchased MGME in 2024 and is expected to considerably expand the host agency’s competitive reach in the meetings and events market. — Claudette Covey, Executive Retail Editor
InteleTravel, a global travel distribution group and the world’s largest host travel agency, today announced that its meetings and events business, MGME, has acquired Key Meetings & Events, a full-service agency with more than 35 years of experience serving corporate, association and private equity clients. The transaction combines Key Meetings & Events’ established client relationships and sector expertise with MGME’s global scale and specialized resources, backed by experience delivering programs in more than 70 countries.
Led by founder Heather Keenan, who will join MGME’s Senior Leadership Team as Executive Director, San Francisco-based Key Meetings & Events plans and delivers executive meetings, investor events, conferences, annual meetings and incentive programs across North America and internationally. The company has deep experience serving private equity firms, portfolio companies and corporate clients across financial services, technology and other industries.

The acquisition follows InteleTravel’s purchase of MGME in 2024 and represents the first acquisition by MGME since joining the portfolio. The transaction will double MGMEs revenue and team size, significantly expanding the group’s meetings and events business. It is the latest in a series of strategic growth moves that have expanded InteleTravel’s enterprise across leisure, corporate travel, meetings and events, and travel experiences, including the acquisitions of Hickory Global Partners, MGME, Major Travel and Tickitto, as well as the launch of BusinessTravel.com.
“InteleTravel continues to grow far beyond its roots as the world’s first and largest host travel agency, and acquisitions have played an important role in that evolution, ”said James R. Ferrara, co-founder and CEO of InteleTravel. “MGME’s acquisition of Key Meetings & Events reflects how we’re building the InteleTravel enterprise by bringing together businesses with distinct expertise across the travel industry. Each addition strengthens what we can offer across the group, extends our reach and creates new opportunities for growth.”
With more than 35 years of experience and headquarters in New York City and British Columbia, Canada, MGME brings global scale and specialized expertise across hotel sourcing, air travel management, creative services, event production and technology to the combination. Key Meetings & Events adds established relationships and sector knowledge, giving clients across both businesses access to a broader range of expertise, services and resources.
“Key Meetings & Events brings deep experience and client relationships in sectors that complement our business,” said Carvie Gillikin, President and CEO of MGME. “Together, we can offer clients more while preserving the high-touch approach and trusted relationships that have defined both organizations. We’re bringing together the strengths of two exceptional teams and creating new opportunities for our clients and our people.”
Key Meetings & Events will continue operating under its established brand as Key Meetings & Events, an MGME Company. Clients will continue working with the team they know while gaining access to MGME’s global reach, infrastructure and specialized services.
“What we’ve built at Key Meetings & Events over more than 35 years is rooted in an extraordinary team, strong client relationships and a commitment to doing great work,” said Heather Keenan, founder of Key Meetings & Events and incoming Executive Director at MGME. “MGME shares that commitment and brings strengths that complement our own. Together, we’re expanding what we can offer clients while preserving the people, relationships and high-touch approach that have always defined Key Meetings & Events. I’m excited about what our teams can accomplish together.”
The acquisition adds to InteleTravel’s momentum as it expands its global business across multiple sectors of the travel industry. With Key Meetings & Events joining MGME, InteleTravel is deepening its presence in meetings and events while continuing to build a broader travel enterprise serving leisure, corporate and business-to-business markets.
