Effective September 1, Dr. Aaron J. Salā will assume the role of president and CEO of the Hawai‘i Visitors & Convention Bureau (HCVB).
“Aaron brings extensive experience as a highly accomplished leader and cultural advisor, whose impactful, innovative work in Hawai‘i’s visitor industry and beyond has no bounds,” said Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA) Board Chair Mufi Hannemann and Interim President & CEO Daniel Nāhoʻopiʻi in a joint statement.
“No stranger to HTA, Aaron served on our board of directors from 2011 to 2015 including a stint as Board Chair. We look forward to working with him further in his new role.”
Most recently, Salā served as an advocate for the 13th Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture, “hosting our fellow Pacific Island delegations in June and served as the cultural creative producer for ‘Auana, Hawai‘i’s upcoming Cirque du Soleil residency,” they said.
“He has worked as a music director and arranger for several Disney projects, including Aulani and the production of Moana in ‘Ōlelo Hawai‘i. He also served as the director of cultural affairs at Royal Hawaiian Center at Helumoa.”
They executives added: “As our esteemed partner at the helm of HVCB, we wish Aaron much success ahead.”
