AMSTERDAM — Amadeus River Cruises announced during the 2026 ASTA River Cruise Expo it will debut a new ship on the Douro River in 2028, adding to the continued growth of the river cruise market.
“We're breaking the mold on the Douro and we are bringing a fully Amadeus owned and operated vessel, so the ship will really look and feel like all of our traditional ships,” said Victoria Singleton, Director of Marketing for Amadeus River Cruises.
The ship will be named the Amadeus Douro, and it will launch in April of 2028, featuring 55 cabins and offering a seven-night round trip from Porto, Portugal.
“It will be designed with more outdoor space than our typical ships, but it'll be modern and exciting while giving that light and airy feeling that a lot of our newer ships have,” Singleton said.

The Amadeus Douro will also feature a hybrid electric system to lower emissions.
An announcement with further details about the ship and the itinerary is coming soon, Singelton said.
Singleton also shared that Amadeus will be adding more itineraries across Europe for 2027 and expanding their excursion packages by adding an active package.
