Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours and Emerald Cruises & Tours have announced their 2026 and 2027 holiday river cruise itineraries in Europe, with sailings focused on Christmas markets and seasonal traditions.
The itineraries visit destinations including Cologne, Vienna and Strasbourg, where travelers can explore Christmas markets and experience local food and holiday traditions.
Emerald’s holiday offerings include an eight-day sailing from Amsterdam to Basel and an eight-day itinerary from Munich to Budapest. Scenic will offer a 15-day sailing from Budapest to Amsterdam and an eight-day itinerary from Zurich to Amsterdam.
“There is something truly special about experiencing Europe during the holiday season,” says Ken Muskat, president of Scenic Group USA & LATAM. “Christmas markets aren’t simply places to shop, they’re where centuries-old traditions, local culture and festive celebrations come together. River cruising allows guests to wake up in a new Christmas destination each day while enjoying the comfort and ease of unpacking just once.”
Travelers are increasingly seeking experiential trips, according to Robert Castro, vice president of marketing for Scenic Group USA & LATAM.
“Today’s travelers are looking for experiences that feel authentic and emotionally meaningful, and Europe’s Christmas markets deliver exactly that,” says Castro. “From village squares and holiday traditions to seasonal cuisine and scenery, these journeys create moments that stay with travelers long after the decorations come down.”
