A new experiential AI company just launched, aiming to offer the technology to theme parks, cruise lines, resorts and more, spearheaded by the travel industry veteran John Padgett, who pioneered wearables like Princess Cruises' Princess Medallion and Disney's Magicband and FastPass+.
The company, called Spaxial, centers around the Spaxial Experiential AI Platform, which is a combination of physical AI, which is being used in robots, self-driving cars and automation, as well as the experience economy, the progression from goods to services to experiences.
Experiential AI, then, means using AI to understand operations as they happen, as Spaxial explains: “connecting awareness of the physical environment with permissioned identity, guest preferences and live operational context.”
“Experience businesses focused on brand differentiation and exceptional service delivery understand that guest interactions must be facilitated in milliseconds, not seconds, not minutes. Reflecting on two decades of progress, Disney’s MagicBand connected the experience. The Medallion delivered real-time information. Spaxial adds context and rationalization while making it actionable,” said Padgett, Spaxial’s Founder and CEO.
“To date, exceptional service delivery has been fully dependent on exceptional individuals as the technology to instantaneously rationalize real-time information into action has not existed. Now all front-line team members can be equipped to deliver hyper-personalized, keenly relevant services to every guest, in every space at any time at any scale.”
The Spaxial Experiential AI Platform brings hospitality systems together to manage reservations, team apps, guest apps and more, with location awareness for guests and staff using LiDAR, wearables and more.
According to Spaxial, “Spaxial’s AI is built to answer one question, consistently and in the moment, across every venue: given this guest, in this place, at this moment, under these conditions, what should happen next, and what should not?”
The company notes that each guest can deny Spaxial’s technology access to their identity. Guests can opt in for easier access and personalization, but can also opt out.
