Hamilton An American Musical
The Broadway blockbuster has landed in its first location outside of New York and the Windy City has quickly caught Hamilton fever. Tickets are sold out until next year, but every day there's a digital lottery for $10 tickets. The tickets are for seats all over the Broadway in Chicago Theater and there will be 44 tickets for day of performances. The catch is that you'll be notified immediately if you win a ticket and only have an hour to purchase, so you need to be online consistently for a chance to win these. The Field Museum, China's First Emperor and his Terracotta Warriors
This exhibit of the legendary terracotta warriors that guarded the tomb of China's first emperor, Qin Shihuang, is another can't-miss. The Field Museum of Natural History boasts a treasure trove of highlights including the ever popular Sue, the T Rex, but the Terracotta Warriors exhibit ends on Jan. 8, with sold out crowds expected over the holidays so reserve tickets, which range from $22-$38, now.
National Museum of Mexican Art, # 30 Dia de los Muertos: Journey of the Soul
The vibrant Day of the Dead celebration is a Mexican tradition that extends well beyond the Halloween season. The National Museum of Mexican Art presents its annual exhibit of Day of the dead art and ofrendas or altars with # 30 Dia de los Muertos: Journey of the Soul The display examines the indigenous root of the celebration and showcases pieces from 50 artists representing both sides of the border. A local favorite,the free exhibit is on display through Dec. 11.
Lyric Opera Chicago, Les Troyens (The Trojans) and Don Quichotte
Chicago's world renowned Lyric Opera supplies non-stop cold weather entertainment with a season of accessible opera that always include projected English translations. Choose from two two classic stories during November; experience the intrigue of the Trojan War with Les Troyens Nov. 13-Dec. 3 or witness the flair of Don Quixote with Don Quichotte , Nov. 19-Dec. 7. Both operas are performed in French with English subtitles and Lyric's dazzling orchestra.
