Majestic Colonial Punta Cana will welcome guests back on November 5, 2026, following a $40 million renovation that touches nearly every corner of the Playa Bávaro resort. The property, which opened more than two decades ago as the original flagship of Majestic Resorts, is returning with refreshed accommodations, new dining and a water park designed with families in mind.
The centerpiece of the project is the complete transformation of more than 600 guestrooms across the resort's two sections: the all-ages Family Section and The Club, which is reserved for adults 18 and older. Every room will feature a brand-new bathroom, an indoor bathtub and an outdoor Jacuzzi.

The renovation also introduces a new room category. Thirty existing rooms are being converted into Family Suites (Outdoor Jacuzzi), each measuring 1,025 square feet and sleeping up to six guests. The suites include a main bedroom with a king-size bed, a separate living area with two Murphy beds and a sofa bed, two restrooms and an outdoor Jacuzzi — a layout well suited to larger families and multigenerational groups.

Dining gets an upgrade as well. Toscana, a new Italian restaurant with an outdoor terrace, joins the lineup, while Taíno, the resort's Mexican restaurant, is undergoing a full renovation that adds its own outdoor terrace, expanding the resort's open-air dining options. The Supreme International Buffet Restaurant is also being completely renovated.
Families with kids of all ages will find one of the biggest additions in Caribbean Water Park, a multi-zone attraction with multiple water slides, a lazy river and dedicated areas for different age groups. The park's design takes cues from the Dominican Republic's Los Haitises National Park, incorporating references to mangroves, tropical vegetation, limestone formations and Taíno-influenced elements.
