Tuesday marks the third anniversary of singular singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett's passing and his iconic brand Margaritaville is inviting fans to celebrate Jimmy Buffett Day with the third annual Day of Service on Friday, September 4.
His original music and laidback vibe undoubtedly resonate with many, but even if it's not for you, travelers can still get behind Buffett's spirit of connection and ultimately leaving their favorite destinations better than when they found them.
This Labor Day Weekend will see Margaritaville restaurants, resorts, hotels, communities and cruises will host volunteer opportunities, charitable activations, and fundraising initiatives in an effort to foster good vibes while making a difference for other people and places.
"Jimmy Buffett Day is about bringing people together and finding meaningful ways to support the communities around us," says Margaritaville's Chief Marketing Officer Tamara Baldanza-Dekker.
"Each year, our properties bring this initiative to life in their own unique way and we're excited to welcome guests and team members to join us through acts of service and give-back moments that embody the Margaritaville state of mind," she said.
This upcoming holiday weekend will feature a handful of exciting events and projects building on Buffett's legacy and the spirit of leaving places better than found.
Participating properties include Margaritaville Resort Orlando, Margaritaville Beach Cottage Resort Panama City Beach, Camp Margaritaville Resort Auburndale, Compass Hotel Anna Maria Sound, Compass Hotel Naples and Margaritaville Beach Resort Nassau.
Highlights will include cost-free wish vacations for critically ill children and their families, breakfast and other special events for first responders, pet food and toy drives, benefits for U.S. military veterans, active-duty personnel and wounded warriors, as well as clothing and other donations.

Even if you can't participate in an event in person, you can contribute by taking a trip with the "Keep the Party Going" package (available through September 27), which includes special offers, commemorative Jimmy Buffett Day cups (September 4-11), and contributions benefiting nonprofit partners.
There's also a limited-edition Jimmy Buffett Day merchandise collection and specialty beverages created for the celebration, served in commemorative cups for travelers who want to contribute while feeding their fandom.
As the final days of summer tick down, time is running out to take that island escape Buffett sang so beautifully about.
But even if you can't make plans to travel this Jimmy Buffett Day, the Day of Service is a golden opportunity to honor the one-of-a-kind entertainer's spirit of giving back.
