This Fourth of July is poised to be a record one in terms of travel.

While millions of Americans will head out this weekend to visit family and friends and explore new destinations, others will stay put to enjoy cookouts, concerts and fireworks.

I won't be venturing too far from home this Independence Day but the FOMO won't stop me from planning my next getaway.

After all, travelers can take advantage of a slew of summer sales right now offering everything from discounted airfares to all-inclusive resort deals.

Even if you don't book something this weekend, you'll have plenty of opportunities to be inspired. The world has reopened and countless studies have proven that the simple act of planning a vacation can boost your mood.

The long weekend is also a great time to connect with an experienced travel advisor who can help build your ideal itinerary while saving you money and potential headaches.

If you're not sure where to start, check out the American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) convenient Trip Quote tool, which allows users to enter their contact information and trip details to get matched with a certified travel professional in no time.

As the calendar flips to July, there's still plenty of time left to plan your dream summer vacation but if you have the flexibility, perhaps target shoulder season to save even more on your next getaway.
