Why We Need Spirit Airlines to Stick Around

There’s no doubt that Spirit Airlines is an acquired taste.

If you want a flight to get you from Point A to Point B with no discernible frills, this is the airline for you. If you’re looking for things like no baggage fees and fancy meals, among other amenities, this is not the place for you.

Plain and simple.

Cut and dried.

Black and white.

Spirit, which recently emerged from bankruptcy with a new focus on premium travel, has one job and one job only and that's to get you from one destination to the next. Some people have joked that Spirit will next start charging for air. Humorous, but some people want the most economical flights.

And there’s nothing wrong with having a choice when it comes to airfares. You do what’s best to fit your budget. Spirit Airlines fills that void. Spirit Airlines certainly has a place in the aviation marketplace.

The airline’s recent plans to merge with either Frontier or JetBlue fell through. But that’s a different story. The ability to conduct business is a topic that has been well-covered previously. Yet, in a way, this is about business as well. Your business. Your business as a consumer.

For many, this is a viable choice. No one should be surprised at how Spirit Airlines or startups like Breeze or Avelo or other low-cost carriers conduct their operations. It’s about options.

And Spirit Airlines brings you that option in the world of flying.
