Bust out the cassette tapes and big hair and head on down to Halifax, where the 1980s are dominating every street corner and restaurant.
Downtown Halifax followed up its previous tourism campaign with a nostalgic wonder that features a treasure trove of the decade’s most beloved movies.
There is Doc and Marty, “Footloose,” “Flashdance,” a Karate Kid and even a Ferris Bueller nod in this masterpiece.
By the end of the video touting the city’s throwback month you will be ready to pop off to the garage to look for your old VHS tapes and yearbooks.
Halifax hopes that you will take that one step further and book travel to this Nova Scotia gem:
Some of you might recall last year’s campaign, which was a fake but rather hilarious dating video.
As noted, many restaurants and businesses are offering deep discounts, turning back the clock on their respective prices to reflect the 1980s.
Peruse this PDF for more discounts that are sure to entice anyone in the area for March. At the very least, you can play spot the reference in the above brilliance that also includes nods to movies like “Sixteen Candles,” “An Officer and a Gentleman,” and “When Harry Met Sally.”
We will most definitely have what Halifax is having.
