Bio
Travel has shaped nearly every chapter of Ceera Machotka's life. Her curiosity began while traveling through Ireland with her college Concert Choir, singing and playing piano in castles and cathedrals. It grew while studying abroad in Costa Rica, living with a host family and taking all her courses in Spanish. After college, she worked in hospitality before leaving everything behind for a seven-month solo backpacking journey through 10 countries. That leap ultimately led her to become a travel advisor. Nine years later, after helping hundreds of clients experience the world, Machotka took another leap and launched her own agency, Travel Destinations Unknown.
She has always believed that if she can inspire even one person to take a trip, sharing her experiences is worthwhile. That belief shapes how she contributes to the travel community through storytelling, firsthand knowledge and encouraging others to look beyond the destinations already on their bucket lists.
That passion came together in her film, Fueled by Wonder: 55 Seconds Around the World, which was selected as the sole Travel Advisor Category winner of Goway's inaugural Micro Film Fest from hundreds of entries. The films were judged by travel and media professionals representing GoPro, Lonely Planet and Viral Nation, and her story was later featured by Travelweek and in Globetrotter magazine.
Professionally, she became a million-dollar producer in her first year as a travel advisor and continued achieving that distinction for many years, while ranking as a top producer at her previous agency for the majority of her tenure.
Machotka believes strongly in collaboration within the industry. She regularly connects with fellow Wisconsin advisors to exchange ideas, strengthen partnerships and learn from one another, and values the relationships she's built with advisors on FAM trips around the world.
Machotka is 37 years old.
