JetBlue is going to be the first major airline in the U.S. to sell non-alcoholic beer onboard with a new partnership with Athletic Brewing Company, beginning this May.

The non-alcoholic brewing company is the second-largest in the nation and will be offering its award-winning Upside Dawn Golden brew on all domestic JetBlue flights. Besides being a great alternative for travelers who don’t want to drink an alcoholic beverage, it’s also acceptable for travelers with gluten intolerance.

"In our continued effort to provide customers with an onboard experience customized to their needs and preferences, JetBlue is proud to be the first major U.S. airline to serve non-alcoholic beer," said Mariya Stoyanova, director of product development, JetBlue. "We're thrilled to partner with industry leader Athletic Brewing to offer our customers the refreshing, balanced taste of a classic craft Golden without the alcohol."

The recent pandemic had one unanticipated impact: travelers are choosing to forgo drinking alcoholic beverages at the rate they used to, often as a health choice. More recently in March, Carnival Cruise Line announced it would begin offering non-alcoholic versions of their line’s signature beverages and cocktails following the interest in non-alcoholic beverages.

"We're excited to take flight with JetBlue and allow flyers to relax at 35,000 feet with a great-tasting alternative to full-strength brews," said Bill Shufelt, Athletic Brewing co-founder & CEO. "This is a huge milestone for Athletic and a key partnership for us in the travel industry."
