They want to see Taylor Swift or Bruce Springsteen, or go to Summerfest, or see a theater production.
That’s how people plan to spend their summer.
A new survey from Allianz Partners USA found that more than half (60 percent) of their customers are planning to take in a theater show, concert or music festival during their travels this summer.
And once people see the price of tickets, it might be their only show. Kidding, well, sort of.
That’s why 78 percent of customers surveyed say they plan to purchase trip insurance. It’s a smart move since they have no control over things like the weather and whether the band can even perform. For instance, Bruce Springsteen recently canceled a show in San Francisco.
The survey, which reviewed summer travel plans and purchasing behavior of more than 5,000 customers of the travel insurance and assistance company, gleaned a number of insights into Americans’ 2023 travel preferences.
This year marked an increased demand for both indoor and outdoor entertainment. After years of restrictions, some of the world’s most famous music stars are announcing upcoming world tours while Broadway show classics are roaring back to life via sold-out shows.

According to Allianz Partners’ survey, 39 percent of customers are planning to attend a theater or show while 21 percent are purchasing tickets for a concert or music festival. Meanwhile, 17 percent said they were planning to go to a theme or water park, a two-point increase from last year’s results.
Just call it pent-up "outside demand."
Even though air travel was down from last year as the preferred mode of transportation, people are still hell-bent on going on vacation.
"We’re finding that despite inflation and an increase in travel delays, our customers are still interested in planning a summer getaway this year," Daniel Durazo, director of external communications at Allianz Partners USA, said in a statement.
"Customers put a premium on their vacation plans, and a testament to the value that Allianz Partners provides is evident in the resounding majority who plan to purchase trip protection for a future trip. Whether traveling domestically or internationally, it’s always important to be prepared in case of an unexpected covered medical emergency which can rack up an expensive bill."
