Travel Leaders of Tomorrow is grooming the future leaders of the industry through Travel Leaders' partnership with its industry partners. The joint effort is geared at attracting new talent to the industry, and the group recently provided participants the chance to attend its first fam trip offering.
"One of the many compelling benefits to becoming a travel agent is the opportunity to take fam trips to learn about destinations firsthand," said Heather Kindred, program director for Travel Leaders of Tomorrow.
"Through fam trips, agents gain valuable knowledge to better serve their clients. Because Travel Leaders of Tomorrow strives to give our participants thorough preparation for their travel careers, it made sense for us to integrate a fam trip into the learning program," Kindred added.
Mexico, particularly Cancun, presented a wonderful training opportunity for members who traveled in a group of 20 on a journey organized through Funjet Vacations.
"Cancun is a highly sellable destination, and thanks to the sponsorship of Funjet Vacations, participants were able to take a deep dive into the destination-and have some fun along the way," Kindred noted.
Laura Wagner, a Travel Leaders of Tomorrow participant and current agent at Protravel, added that she finds in-depth experiences enriching.
"Although it is impossible to personally experience all of the places people like to travel, fam trips are invaluable for making local connections in a destination to help me better serve my clients," said Wagner. "They add tremendously to your expertise as a travel professional, your credibility with future clients and help you sell travel with more confidence. This whole program has been a fantastic way to kick off my travel agent career."
Attendees visited more than 10 resorts in Cancun. They also networked with local suppliers, participated in training courses and enjoyed activities such as parasailing and snorkeling.
"Thanks to Funjet Vacations and our Cancun resort partners, this trip was an enormous success that will help Travel Leaders of Tomorrow participants sell travel to Mexico and we look forward to offering future fam opportunities," said Kindred.
