Florida's Historic Coast Comes Alive With Travel Agent Academy

St. Augustine and Ponte Vedra's deep historical routes are sure to be a draw for even the most well-traveled clientele. With nearly 500 years of history St. Augustine and its historic coast of Ponte Vedra offer a remarkable number of cultural, culinary and outdoor adventures. 

St. Augustine has been continually inhabited since the 16th century when the Spanish established the town to gain a foothold in the New World. Visitors can explore its 350-year-old fort, Castillo San Marcos and visit the historic downtown to see what the town resembled in its early days. 

It's not surprising that a town that has survived centuries was founded in a location that offers stunning beauty. The Historic Coast features more than 42 miles of oceanfront with white sand made up of Appalachian quartz. Here, visitors can rent paddle boards, kayaks, sailboats and more and they will find pristine beach facilities.

There are four chapters that explore various aspects of the region, including a new chapter on exploring the outdoors. On your way to becoming a St. Augustine and Ponte Vedra Specialist, you complete an introductory chapter, one on planning special occasions and annual events, a chapter dedicated to culinary tourism and the new outdoor chapter. 

Travel advisors who complete the program receive certification as a St. Augustine/Ponte Vedra Specialist and can earn continuing education credits from the Travel Institute.
