Best, Worst Airports for On-Time Summer Travel

The winter is notorious for disrupting travel. However, flight delays can stack up during the busy summer months as well. Financial website MagnifyMoney recently analyzed airport arrival data from the U.S. Department of Transportation for the country's 50 busiest airports between 2008 and 2017 to reveal the best and worst for on-time arrivals.

Sadly, Newark Liberty International Airport is the worst for on-time summer arrivals, with only two-thirds (67 percent) of arriving flights checking in on time.

Nearby LaGuardia Airport isn't much better, ranking second when it comes to the highest rate of summertime headaches.

On the West Coast, San Francisco International Airport barely trails Newark and LaGuardia with just 69.2 percent of summer flights landing on time.

Unsurprisingly, New York City's other airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport ranks fourth as the worst airport for late arrivals in the summer.

Elsewhere in the Northeast, Boston's Logan International Airport cracks the top five with just over 72 percent of summer flights arriving on time.

Give the Midwest travel headache crown to the Windy City as only about 73 percent of flights are on time at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport during the summer.

At least one-quarter of visitors to Miami are delayed during the summer as the city's top airport boasts an on-time rate of under 75 percent.

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport ties Miami in on-time summer arrivals, clocking in at just 74.4 percent, according to MagnifyMoney.

North Carolina's Raleigh-Durham International Airport gets busy during the summer months so passengers should plan ahead for potential delays.
