President Donald Trump racked up tens of thousands of miles during the first term of his presidency, visiting two dozen different countries all over the world before the COVID-19 pandemic brought travel to a standstill earlier this year. With the 2020 election just days away, let's look back on all of the places POTUS has traveled to since taking office in January 2017.

Afghanistan

Trump made his lone visit to Afghanistan this past Thanksgiving, surprising U.S. military personnel at Bagram Airfield. The president served Thanksgiving dinner to service members before later meeting with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani.

Argentina

The president traveled to Argentina for the first time in late-2018 to attend the G20 Buenos Aires summit, which was the first to be hosted in South America. The three-day trip is Trump's only to the continent to date.

Belgium

POTUS has traveled to Belgium twice since taking office. On both occasions, Trump has spent time in the Belgian capital of Brussels to attend NATO summit meetings with other world leaders.

Canada

Trump's lone visit north of the border to Canada occurred in June 2018 when he attended the 44th G7 summit at the Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu in La Malbaie, Quebec. The president's time was shared with Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau and French President Emmanuel Macron.

China

The president's only visit to China came one year after the 2016 election. Trump's brief state visit to Beijing included a meeting with General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang.

Finland

POTUS wrapped up a July 2018 trip to Europe in Helsinki, Finland, where he attended a summit meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and also had discussions with Finland President Sauli Niinisto.

France

As POTUS, Trump has visited France more than any other country in the world, traveling there four times since taking office in January 2017. The president's most recent trip was to attend the 45th G7 summit at the five-star Hotel du Palais in Biarritz. Trump's first two visits were to Paris while the third was to attend the 75th anniversary of D-Day memorial ceremonies in Normandy.

Germany

The president traveled to Germany twice during his first two years in office, attending the G20 summit in Hamburg in July 2017 and later visiting with U.S. Armed Forces at Ramstein Air Base in Rhineland-Palatinate just after Christmas in 2018.

India

Trump's most recent trip abroad was to India in late-February 2020. The "Namaste Trump" tour event saw the president visit Gandhi's Sabarmati Ashram as well as the iconic Taj Mahal.

Iraq

POTUS made his only trip to Iraq the day after Christmas 2018 when he traveled to Al Asad Air Base along with First Lady Melania Trump to visit with U.S. military personnel. The visit marked Trump's first to a U.S. combat zone.

Ireland

Trump spent two nights at the five-star Trump International Golf Links & Hotel in Doonbeg, County Clare, Ireland-which he purchased in 2014-in June 2019.

Israel

Israel was one of Trump's first destinations abroad. The noteworthy May 2017 journey saw him become the first sitting U.S. president to visit the Western Wall in Jerusalem. That visit also included a stop in the West Bank, where Trump met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

Italy

Trump also traveled to Italy in late-May 2017, meeting with President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni in Rome before visiting with Pope Francis in Vatican City. POTUS' last stop was in Taormina, Sicily, where he attended the 43rd G7 summit.

Japan

Japan is one of only three countries that Trump has visited more than twice during his time as POTUS. He traveled to Japan twice last year, in fact, most recently attending the G20 summit in June 2019.

North Korea

Trump again made history alongside North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on June 30, 2019, when he became the first sitting U.S. president to enter North Korea as part of the 2019 Koreas-United States DMZ Summit.

Philippines

POTUS' lone trip to the Philippines came at the end of a lengthy journey to Asia in November 2017. Trump attended the 31st ASEAN Summit in Manila and Pasay and met with Filipino President Rodrigo Duterte.

Poland

Trump's only visit to Poland was to the capital of Warsaw in July 2017. The president met with European leaders and attended the second summit of the Three Seas Initiative. POTUS also honored victims with a speech at the Warsaw Uprising Monument in Krasinski Square.

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia was the site of Trump's first international visit as POTUS. The president's May 2017 trip included meeting with King Salman and other Muslim leaders at the Riyadh Summit as well as a visit to the National Museum of Saudi Arabia with the First Lady.

Singapore

Trump became the first sitting U.S. president to meet a North Korean leader when he met with Kim Jong-un during a summit meeting in Singapore in June 2018. The meeting with Kim would be the first of several.

South Korea

Trump visited Osan and Seoul as part of his initial state visit to South Korea in November 2017 and returned nearly two years later in June 2019. The second visit also included a trip to the Korean Demilitarized Zone.

Switzerland

The president visited Switzerland in January 2018 to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos. Trump also attended meetings with then British prime minister Theresa May and Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his brief visit to the Alpine town.

United Kingdom

Trump has traveled to the U.K. at least three times since he assumed the presidency, most recently venturing across the pond to attend the 30th NATO summit in December 2019. POTUS also spent a weekend at his Turnberry golf resort in Scotland during a July 2018 visit to the U.K.

United States

While Trump has spent much of his time in Washington, D.C., his travels haven't been limited to other countries. The president has visited 42 of the 50 states since assuming office in 2017, most often traveling to Virginia, Florida and New Jersey. POTUS has spent less time in the Pacific Northwest and New England, with Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Arkansas, Vermont, Rhode Island and Massachusetts among the states he's yet to visit while in office. Meanwhile, the Trump National Golf Club, Washington, D.C. in Potomac Falls, Virginia, the well-known Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida and the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey were among his most frequent stops for leisure travel during his first term.

Vietnam

POTUS traveled to Vietnam twice during his first term, visiting Da Nang and Hanoi during his initial stop in November 2017 and later revisiting Hanoi to meet with Kim Jong-un and Vietnamese leaders in February 2019.
