Chile Launches New Social Media Contest in US, Spain and Brazil

Chile's tourism board has launched a brand new social media campaign and contest inviting Instagram users to share a photo of the time they felt the most adventurous for a chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip to the South American destination. The #ChileisBackChallenge campaign is now live in the United States, Spain and Brazil and will wrap up with the selection of the final winners on January 10, 2022.

To enter, Instagram users must follow @ChileTravel and post a photo of the time they felt the most adventurous along with the hashtag #ChileIsBackChallenge and tag @ChileTravel. Finally, they will need to complete a brief online form at chileisback.com to finalize their submission.

The interactive contest will see participants vote on the photos submitted at chileisback.com. Five semi-finalists will be selected weekly based on the number of likes received, their creativity and the presentation of their most notable adventure. The semi-finalists will be announced weekly on Chile Travel's official account.

The contest's grand prize includes roundtrip tickets to Chile. Winners will enjoy a guided, week-long tour of the country featuring accommodations in four-star hotels. Additionally, the winners will be featured in a promotional video for Chile tourism, and their photos will be shared on the official Chile tourism accounts.

Chile has won several notable tourism awards, including being named South America's Best Adventure Tourism Destination 2021 at the World Travel Awards. Visitors can connect with nature and seek out their next great adventure in over 100 protected wildlife areas and as many as 800 beautiful beaches. Plus, Rapa Nui (Easter Island) will reopen for tourism with enhanced health and safety protocols in place on February 3, 2022.

Chile has vaccinated more than 90 percent of its residents against COVID-19, and tour services have long since implemented elevated health and safety protocols in an effort to keep visitors safe while they explore Chile's rich biodiversity.

Chile recently updated its entry requirements following the discovery of the COVID-19 Omicron variant. Visitors will need to be fully vaccinated, test negative for COVID-19 via a PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before departure and obtain a traveler's affidavit and a medical insurance plan covering COVID-19 at a minimum of $30,000. Travelers must also complete a mandatory PCR test upon arrival and self-isolate until they receive a negative result.

Chile is currently in the minority when it comes to international destinations not included on the U.S. State Department's "Do Not Travel" list. Officials currently recommend that Americans reconsider travel to the country due to COVID-19.
