Punta Cana is the ultimate destination for relaxation, with a whopping 99.9 percent of last year's overnight visitors traveling for purposes beyond business. Unwinding in this family-friendly destination is easy as it offers world-class beaches and luxurious all-inclusive hotels and resorts.

A culture-rich city located in the Peruvian Andes and the former capital of the Inca Empire, Cusco is a dream destination for history buffs. According to Mastercard's research, only two percent of overnight visitor travel in 2017 was for work.

The nearly 98 percent of overnight tourists who visited in 2017 most likely also fell in love with the island's distinct architecture, which is highlighted by whitewashed buildings.
