The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) today launched a new member reporting tool designed to identify and address supplier policies and industry practices that unfairly burden travel advisors, restrict competition or undermine advisors’ ability to serve their clients.

Flagging Systemic Issues

The new Report a Supplier Policy or Industry Practice Concern tool provides ASTA members with a means in which to flag systemic industry issues relating to one or more suppliers within a given industry sector on a broader basis.

Expanding a Proven Model:

  • Track Record: Modeled after ASTA’s hotel commission recovery tool, which has successfully recovered over $53,000 for members and flagged repeat non-paying properties.
  • Broader Scope: Expands beyond individual hotel disputes to identify and combat anti-competitive policies across all sectors of the travel marketplace.

Amplifying Advisor Experiences

“Travel advisors see firsthand where the system is falling short, and their experiences are critical to ASTA’s work on behalf of the industry,” said ASTA President and CEO Zane Kerby.

“This new tool gives our members a clear way to put harmful practices on our radar so we can identify patterns, engage suppliers, inform the advisor community and determine where collective action is needed,” he added. “When advisors speak up, ASTA can turn individual concerns into a stronger case for industrywide change.”

Reports submitted to ASTA will receive perpetual “monitoring, supplier engagement, member guidance and advocacy priorities,” the Society said.

Turning Feedback Into Collective Action

“This is about making sure problematic practices do not remain isolated stories shared between colleagues,” Kerby said. “We want members to tell us what they are seeing so ASTA can connect the dots, elevate their concerns and press for a fairer, more transparent marketplace.”
